ICJ's ruling, a historic date for the liberation of Palestine

It took just 13 days for the International Court of Justice to organize the hearings and another 13 days to adopt provisional measures. The speed with which the ICJ acted shows the gravity of the situation and the strong presumption of genocide. The ICJ imposed six provisional measures on Israel, ordering it to take all actions aimed at preventing the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, to ensure that the military abide by these regulations, to act against incitement to genocide, to provide urgent humanitarian aid to populations, to preserve all evidence and to provide a report within one month regarding these measures. These measures taken together amount to a long-term humanitarian pause. These six measures are extremely important because they are JUDICIAL decisions and not political ones. As a result, they are enforceable and, although the ICJ does not have a police force, each State is required to apply them, otherwise it engage its responsibility. These measures are also important b...

The truth eventually comes out

The unfolding tragedy - with close to 30000 Palestinians killed by Israel, most of them children and women - should prompt us to reflect on its deep-rooted causes and necessary solutions. It's crucial to recognize that the origin traces back to the early 20th century when a colonial movement led by European Jews, known as Ashkenazi Jews, aimed to establish a state exclusively for Jews—an inherently colonial and apartheid project. The supremacist European aspect was evident by the killing and persecution of Palestinian Arabs (Muslims and Christians) and mistreatment of Arab Jews (Sephardic Jews) and is the source of conflicts with countries of the region. Addressing the core issue, the persecution of European Jews throughout history, particularly during their genocide by Germany, should have been tackled by improving their situation and treating them as equal citizens. However, the Zionist movement - aided by Great Britain - made the first mistake by opting for a separate entity for...

An inconvenient truth

What is happening in Palestine in recent months requires us to reflect on the root causes of these events. The story begins in Europe where Jews have been subjected to deep anti-Judaism for centuries (1) from Christians, particularly since the Middle Ages. The only place where Jews were considered full citizens was in Spain and part of Portugal during the Arab-Muslim presence between the 8th and 15th centuries.(1) This anti-Judaism everywhere else in Europe caused the birth in the 19th century of the Zionist movement which wanted to free the Jews from this oppression. This movement considered that there was no solution within European societies. From there was born the idea of seeking a separate territory for the Jews. For their part, Western leaders, instead of seeking to improve the condition of Jews within their respective countries, encouraged the creation of an entity outside Europe. It should be remembered that Jews from Europe emigrated in large numbers to the United States, whi...

Israel in the dock

For the first time Israel appears before an international court under the  accusation of the crime of genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza. It is South Africa, which suffered from apartheid and which today represents the world's conscience, has the immense honor of carrying out this moral and heroic action.  Given the strength of the arguments presented by South Africa, there is a good chance that the Court will issue a decision requiring an end to acts of genocide by Israel against the Palestinian people. In any case and whatever the Court's decisions, it is an immense victory to see an international judicial institution look into the suffering of the Palestinian people while Israel appears for the first time in the dock.
