The unfolding tragedy - with close to 30000 Palestinians killed by Israel, most of them children and women - should prompt us to reflect on its deep-rooted causes and necessary solutions. It's crucial to recognize that the origin traces back to the early 20th century when a colonial movement led by European Jews, known as Ashkenazi Jews, aimed to establish a state exclusively for Jews—an inherently colonial and apartheid project. The supremacist European aspect was evident by the killing and persecution of Palestinian Arabs (Muslims and Christians) and mistreatment of Arab Jews (Sephardic Jews) and is the source of conflicts with countries of the region.
Addressing the core issue, the persecution of European Jews throughout history, particularly during their genocide by Germany, should have been tackled by improving their situation and treating them as equal citizens. However, the Zionist movement - aided by Great Britain - made the first mistake by opting for a separate entity for Jews, a concept alien to the rest of the world. The second mistake was favoring European Jews as superior, and the third was choosing an inhabited territory, leading to colonial behavior, supremacist attitudes, and apartheid policies.
Nearly a century later, more and more people are realizing that the Zionist project of creating a European state in the Middle East for Jews is the root cause of injustices and conflicts. Strong voices are rising to end these grave injustices and put an end to conflicts.
