Following the latest vote by the UN General Assembly - which expanded the prerogatives of the State of Palestine - the latter supported South Africa in its action before the International Court of Justice, against Israel suspected of committing a genocide against the Palestinian people.
To date, the number of countries standing alongside South Africa stands at 49 - including 20 in Africa, 18 in Asia, 7 in Central and South America and 4 in Europe (Turkey, Albania, Ireland and Belgium) - as well as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Germany was the only country in the world to support Israel before the ICJ.
It's worth noting that the movement in support of the Palestinian people comes essentially from formerly colonized countries which see in the current massacre essentially a question of decolonization which can only be resolved by the exercise of the right to self-determination of the Palestinian people.
