European countries begin to move

Ireland, Italy, Slovenia, and Turkey have condemned Israel's latest bombings against the civilian population in Rafah. The Italian Foreign Minister described these attacks as "barbaric" and said they "spread hatred." For its part, Slovenia is calling for sanctions against Israel, while Ireland has discussed with other European Union countries the possibility of imposing such sanctions. The European Union as a whole has convened a meeting with Israeli representatives to discuss the respect for human rights and international law, particularly after the International Court of Justice's ruling. The noose is tightening around Israel

Signs are multiplying: people around the world are supporting the just cause of the Palestinian people in their struggle for independence. Only a handful of Western governments, led by the United States, continue to side with the Israeli occupation. But their position is no longer tenable: people are strengthening their support for the Palestinian people, states are breaking off diplomatic relations with Israel, students and university professors in the United States are achieving successes in their heroic battle against the Zionist lobby, the mass media are gradually freeing themselves from Zionist influence, resolutions are being passed at the UN to recognize the Palestinian state; international courts are recognizing signs of genocide, ultimately leading to forthcoming arrest warrants against the Israeli Prime Minister and Minister of Defense. Moreover, the fortress of the West is cracking: Ireland, Spain, and Norway decided to recognize the Palestinian state on May 28, 2024, after ...

Arrest warrants for Israel's Prime Minister and Defense Minister.

In a historic moment, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court has asked the court's judges to issue an international arrest warrant against Israel's prime minister and defense minister for war crimes and crimes against humanity. This request also targets Hamas leaders. This represents a first great victory tory of the Palestinian people and the beginning of the end of the regime of occupation and apartheid that Israel represents. It should be noted that this decision took place despite pressure of all kinds exerted by the United States, which is the main accomplice in the crimes committed by Israel. Benyounès Saidi

She backed Israel; her son led a protest. Could they withstand war?

Could they withstand war? When her son joined protests against Israel’s war in Gaza, Emily Strong began examining her own convictions. That led to deep, often uncomfortable conversations. By Casey Parks May 19, 2024 at 6:00 a.m. EDT One Tuesday night last fall, Emily Strong’s teenage son called and said he planned to be arrested the next day. Emily’s head spun. Eric had never been in trouble. He was the oldest of her three children, a gentle boy with deep empathy for others. He’d gone on mission trips with their church, and he’d earned straight A’s his...

Business titans privately urged NYC mayor to use police on Columbia protesters, chats show

A (very) long and very interesting article from the Washington Post dated May 16, that is worth its weight in gold and worth reading. b.s. A WhatsApp chat started by some wealthy Americans after the Oct. 7 Hamas attack reveals their focus on Mayor Eric Adams and their work to shape U.S. opinion of the Gaza war. By Hannah Natanson and Emmanuel Felton May 16, 2024 at 3:15 p.m. EDT A group of billionaires and business titans working to shape U.S. public opinion of the war in Gaza privately pressed New York City’s mayor last month to send police to disperse pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia University, according to communications obtained by The Washington Post and people familiar with the group. Business executives including Kind snack company founder Daniel Lubetzky, hedge fund manager Daniel Loeb, billionaire Len Blavatnik and real estate investor Joseph Sitt held a Zoom video call on April 26 with Mayor Eric Adams (D), about a week after the mayor first sent New York police to Colum...

All (Not So) Quiet On The Western Front

During the last seven months of Palestinian carnage, several voices have been expressed in the United States and elsewhere in the West. Officials have resigned or expressed their disagreement with the policy of support for Israeli aggression. Recently, an American soldier resigned, and another set himself on fire in front of the Israeli embassy in Washington as a sign of protest. These actions have great significance because Western media ignore Israeli aggression and genocide in Gaza, often repeating the words of their governments. Western citizens have been raised to believe that their countries are "democratic countries" with good intentions, unlike "non-democratic countries", which makes any internal criticism difficult. In this context, the official voices of protest we hear come from courageous people, just as American students and teachers are risking their careers to oppose the genocide in Gaza. Many officials in the West certainly disapprove of their govern...

The American people stand against the genocide of the Palestinian people

This is how the police in the United States, "champion of human rights", treat university professors who stand against the genocide of the Palestinians by Israel with the complicity of the United States. But this does not prevent the demonstrations from continuing and expanding. Hope is there. https://twitter.com/prem_thakker/status/1785397144515469402/video/1

Vietnam, Gaza: Students in the United-States at the forefront of the fight for justice

Here's Norman Finkelstein's eloquent testimony about the American students denouncing Israel genocide against the Palestinian people. ----------- Today marks a historic occasion.  By seizing control of Hamilton Hall, students at Columbia University have anchored in historical memory the nexus between the horrors inflicted in Vietnam that was the hallmark of my generation with the horrors inflicted in Gaza that is the hallmark of the new generation.  It is testament to the majesty of these young people that they have risked their futures for the sake of a poor, powerless people halfway around the world in order to uphold that sacred principle that every life is worthy and the murder of none shall pass in silence. As Abraham Lincoln famously quoted, "The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether."  The right of the people of Gaza to live is an eternal truth.  May the young soldiers in Hamilton Hall be honored and blessed for not countenancing, come what m...
